After many hours of songwriting, recording and perfecting instrumentals in studio, SkyGrass (formerly Blu Grass in the Sky) is proud to announce the release of their long-awaited debut album entitled, "I AM KING".

The band has partnered with Jordan Weller of Collaborative Events (3Bs) ,Zen Events to put on what may prove to be the party to launch the summer! The event will take place on June 29th, 2013 at the Spartan Courtyard (Brompton Rd.) Kingston, Jamaica and will see live performances from SkyGrass featuring a bevy of songs from the album: a fusion of the drum and bass rhythms of reggae music, the high flying energy of rock guitar, and the street flavoured lyrical delivery of Jamaican Dancehall.

A Solid Line-up

The event will boast a solid line-up with performances by Stephen Newland of the celebrated reggae group Rootz Underground and rising reggae artist Kabaka Pyramid.  Much more than a concert, the Spartan Courtyard, an oasis in Kingston, will come alive to the sounds of DJ Richie Ras spinning into the night. VIP ticket holders will be treated to backstage access as well as free drinks all night long. But the event will leave no one empty handed! All ticket holders will go home with the SkyGrass album as a free gift on entry.

I AM KING

Poised for take-off, the Kingston-based SkyGrass is comprised of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Simon Samuel, guitarist Rasheed McCallum and drummer Suane Brown. The band plays a key role in the resurgence of live music among Kingston's youth. Giving critically acclaimed performances at various venues, including the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival (2010 and 2011) where they opened the main stage for Maroon 5.

Written and Produced by lead-singer Simon Samuel, the album has already received the thumbs up from Reggae Industry stalwarts. "I AM KING is about claiming your destiny, knowing that you are supposed to be here, you were created by the many moments leading up to this moment. If it had not been ordained how could it be so?" was Simon's explanation of the album title.
