Gyal Season Riddim Review Image

by Biko Kennedy / Jan 20, 2013 10:15 pm

Embracing the musical beats of the 1960's, The Gyal Season Riddim throbs on a Ska-tingled composition.

With an echoing trumpet sound, a steady drumbeat and an almost-hidden piano backdrop, sit back and just take a trip down memory lane.

Produced by Bambino Musik and Jus Bus, the riddim boasts itself as "an old time style with a brand new swing" and lives true to its nature. It's hard to not start nodding or tapping your feet once the riddim picks up after 30 seconds; with an instant throwback feel being felt. From Denyque recalling her love moments with Juss Ice on Always You and Sophia Squire yearning for one more touch of love on Gimmi Your Love to the ragamuffin styles of Tessanne Chin featuring Bambino on You Got What I Need and the boy meets girl story of Etana featuring Busy Signal single Love. Love, Love, the riddim plays as an extended tribute to the pioneers of ska.

Don't be surprised if you start skanking to this one!
