Jimmy Cliff hits the road with '2013 Many Rivers Crossed Tour' Image

by Biko Kennedy

Slated to run from September 6th to the 29th, Reggae icon Jimmy Cliff will visit several U.S. cities on his 2013 Many Rivers Crossed Tour, in what is expected to be riddled with intimate performances as he opens up about varying stories behind some of his biggest hits.

The 17-date tour comes off the heels of his critically acclaimed 2012 release Rebirth which took home the Grammy® for Best Reggae Album earlier this year.

Says Jimmy Cliff, "With my recent GRAMMY® win and the 40th anniversary of The Harder They Come, I want to give fans something different, a rare and intimate look at Jimmy Cliff. Through the years, I've been blessed with memorable experiences that accompany the songs I've created and I am excited to share these stories on my 'Many Rivers Crossed Tour'."

Performing cult classics including The Harder They Come, You Can Get It If You Really Want and of course Many Rivers to Cross, Cliff's unmatched vocals were back on shelves late June with the release of an acoustic album dubbed The KCRW Session which was recorded when he visited the Los Angeles' radio station KCRW in June 2012.

Overlapping with the Many Rivers Crossed Tour, film distributor Syndctd Entertainment and International Films Management are on the verge of a re-release of the film The Harder They Come - which starred Cliff as Ivanhoe Martin - as a special hallmark for the film's 40th anniversary. Panned for September 5th, Syndctd has invited fans from around the world to participate in a theatrical poster redesign contest while Cliff and Talenthouse have teamed up to create a video contest for up and coming directors.

Directors are encouraged to download a green-screened reel of Cliff performing his song, Reggae Music and come up with a unique vision for the video. The winning video/director will be rewarded with a five-day, all expenses paid trip to Jamaica courtesy of The Jamaican Tourist Board. (Click here for more information)
