Dre Skull marries the cosmos of Dancehall with Dance music Image

The Brooklyn-bred dancehall maestro, Dre Skull, shuffles the musical landscape with his latest release 'First Time' featuring Purity Ring's (a Canadian electronic music duo from Edmonton) Megan James and Mr. Fry Yiy himself, Popcaan.

Andrew Hershey, under his Dre Skull alias, is the riddim- tornado head of Mixpak Records who has mysteriously propelled himself as one of the most sought after Dancehall producers having produced Vybz Kartel's critically acclaimed LP Kingston Story and most recently, engaged to co-producing Snoop Lion's upcoming Reincarnated album, alongside Major Lazer's Diplo and esteemed Los Angeles producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Usher, Glasser, Plain White T's).

With 'First Time' Dre revamps his 2012 summer-produced Loudspeaker Riddim, adding more synths, a slightly-new drum pattern and atmospheric elements to the already uptempo backdrop finding a unique thread to weave a hardcore dancehall sound with that of a dance-esque backbone…an odd-ball collaboration but surprisingly a captivating one.

Having James' delicately projected vocals glide across the walking bassline and her making a debut outside of the duo, 'First Time' plays as part of a collaboration with PUMA Fragrances on the launch of their PUMA Sync and the PUMA Dance Dictionary promotions.

Popcaan impressively adds a whole new depth and energy to the song as he spits his bars over the wavy synths further cementing the fact that his upcoming debut album should be a thrilling ride to take.

The dramatic twist in the revamped version is sure to have you irresistibly dancing or nodding along to the dream-like phrasing, floating over Dre Skull's euphoric beat.
