Bay-C of T.O.K innovatively uses music to deliver news stories through ListenMi Caribbean.

Roshaun Clarke more popular known as Bay-C from renowned Jamaican group T.O.K can now add anchorman to his list of trades. The artiste/ producer recently debuted his reporting skills with the launch of the new series, Listen Mi News, a weekly produced news recap of current events ranging from politics to entertainment. Unlike your typical reporter, Bay-C utilizes his lyrical ingenuity, toasting news items over a complementary riddim to deliver the newscast.

"A friend of mine introduced me to a similar concept in Senegal called Journal Rappe where two famous local musicians rap their local news. I immediately thought it should be done in Jamaica and I thought "I can do this!"- It's fun, allows me to showcase my lyrical skills and most importantly, it's something Jamaica or the Caribbean region has never seen before," Bay-C shared about where the idea originally came from.

He expressed, "The most important aim for me is to expose those who would not normally be interested in the news to become so inclined. Kids, adults (who are tired of the mundane way the news is traditionally presented) and members of the Jamaican Diaspora as well. We want to make the news fun to listen, view and in essence make current affairs more attractive to engage the minds of our youths."

By "we" Bay-C refers to the company ListenMi Caribbean to which he is a founding member along with Kenia Mattis (CEO), Eugene Folkes and Donald 'Icon' Medder. He explained, "ListenMi Caribbean is a fresh new company formed with the vision of significantly enhancing the creative industry. We are on a mission to empower, open minds by inspiring innovation and enriching the creative ecosystem." The company has been in operation for a little more than one year now with their offerings extending to in-store customized content, audio books production and distribution, app development, advertisement production and the latest addition, ListenMi News.

As it relates to the news series he further added "I hope to fully showcase my talents and that of ListenMi Caribbean. The lyrical and acting skills that is required to put this together, from me, is outside of what many know Bay-C for within the group TOK, the master musicianship of 'Icon' as a producer, and the superb voice over and management skills of our CEO, Kenia Mattis!"

In keeping with their goal to empower minds he highlighted their intentions to also use ListenMi News, "as an educational tool for the Jamaican culture, arts, music, language and have all that propelled from the creative industry."

ListenMi Caribbean's next major project will be a music festival slated to be launched in February 2014.

Besides all of this Bay-C has a lot on his plate! His label Bombrush Records recently released the 'Soul Free Riddim' featuring TOK, Gentleman, Gyptian, Munga and label signed acts Sleepy Hallowtips, Eva Hype and Dyani. He also just finished recording with TOK for their untitled forthcoming album of which he described, "It's a great body of work showcasing our international side of music."
