Rest in Power Nelson Mandela Image

Today the world over bemoans the loss of a man who embodied the true definition of a leader, a warrior, humanitarian, and anti-apartheid activist. Of course we're speaking of none other than Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

South Africa's President, Jacob Zuma, made the announcement at a news conference late yesterday, saying "we've lost our greatest son" noting that Mandela will be buried on December 15 at his rural home in Qunu, and a memorial service in a Johannesburg stadium will be held on December 10.

Mandela's body will lie in state at government buildings in Pretoria from Wednesday, December 11, until the burial, and this coming Sunday, December 8, will be a national day of prayer and reflection.

At age 95, Mandela left behind a rich legacy punctuated with ground-breaking ideologies propelling him to becoming a colossus of the 20th century when he emerged from 27 years in prison to negotiate an end to white minority rule in South Africa.

Jamaicansmusic scanned through the archives to give you a few Reggae/ Dancehall songs that honour this courageousness who's now resting in power.
