The band formed in Jakarta, on 13 September 2006 was named Day Afternoon which means Day After Dusk. Departing from a group of students who have a habit of filling free time with his college together, while playing music on every afternoon at one of the cafeteria courtyard of the National University campus in number Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

After all this time of playing music together, came the idea to form a band with a name and select Day Afternoon Reggae music as a genre. Colors Day Afternoon music itself heavily influenced by some of the world Reggae musicians, such as Doreen Shafer, Derick Morgan, Bob Marley and The Wailers, The Skatalites, Toots and The Maytals and also some jazz musicians the world such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and others. Reggae music played so that sounds a bit different from Reggae music in general, which has a touch of Blues, Jazz, Ska, Rocksteady until Pop Keroncong. Attitude Day Afternoon has a slogan It's More Than Skill, which implies in playing Reggae music. Skill is not the most important, but the attitude, behavior, and also of maturity in music. Though still quite young as a Reggae band in Indonesia, Day Afternoon already have a high enough flight hours. The band often perform at community events and non-Reggae community in Jakarta and outside Jakarta. Band yang terbentuk di Jakarta, pada 13 September 2006 ini dinamakan Day Afternoon yang berarti Hari Setelah Senja. Berangkat dari sekelompok mahasiswa yang mempunyai kebiasaan mengisi waktu luang kuliahnya dengan berkumpul bersama, sambil bermain musik di setiap sore hari di salah satu pelataran kantin kampus Universitas Nasional di bilangan Pasar Minggu, Jakarta Selatan.

Kebetulan para personilnya berasal dari kampus yang sama dan juga memiliki visi dan misi yang sama dalam bermusik. Setelah sekian waktu bermain musik bersama, munculah ide untuk membentuk sebuah band dengan nama Day Afternoon dan memilih musik Reggae sebagai genre-nya.

Warna musik Day Afternoon sendiri banyak dipengaruhi oleh beberapa musisi Reggae dunia, seperti Doreen Shafer, Derick Morgan, Bob Marley and The Wailers, The Skatalites, Toots and The Maytals dan juga beberapa musisi jazz dunia seperti Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong dan lainnya. Sehingga musik Reggae yang dimainkan terdengar agak berbeda dari musik Reggae pada umumnya, yang memiliki sedikit sentuhan Blues, Jazz, Ska, Rocksteady hingga Pop Keroncong.

Day Afternoon memiliki slogan Attitude It’s More Than Skill, yang mengandung makna dalam memainkan musik Reggae. Skill bukanlah yang paling utama, melainkan sikap, tingkah laku, dan juga kedewasaan seseorang dalam bermusik. Berkarya dan selalu menyampaikan pesan positif dalam karya-karyanya kepada para pendengar, penikmat dan pecinta musik.

Walaupun masih terbilang muda sebagai sebuah band Reggae di Indonesia, Day Afternoon sudah memiliki jam terbang yang cukup tinggi. Band ini sering tampil di acara-acara komunitas Reggae dan non-komunitas di Jakarta maupun luar Jakarta. Bahkan mereka juga pernah tampil live dalam acara Jamin (Jaringan Musik Indonesia-Red) episode perdana di salahsatu staiun teve (2010) dan KRI ( Komunitas Reggae Indonesia ) di stasiun teve yang sama (2011).

Band yang terhitung sudah berusia lima tahun sejak berdirinya ini telah memiliki cukup banyak materi lagu ciptaan mereka sendiri yang akan dirilis dalam album Manis Jamboe. Dalam album Manis Jamboe terdapat sembilan buah lagu, diantaranya berjudul Sendiri, Keroncong Perpisahan, Hari Setelah Senja, Kenapa, Pamit, Boring Time, Diam, Asli Palsu dan Rasa Cinta. Di album ini juga terdapat bonus track yang menyertakan ikon Reggae Indonesia Tony Q Rastafara yang membawakan lagu Rasa Cinta dalam beat dan warna yang berbeda.

Album Manis Jamboe masih dalam tahap pembuatan cover dan juga penggandaan dalam format compact disc (CD). Proses produksi album ini dibuat dengan dana kolektif para personil dan hasil yang diperoleh dari hasil bermain di sejumlah tempat.
