Denny Frust

Richard Denny Nahaton Nope, popularly known as Denny Frust, is a contemporary Indonesian reggae artiste. He realized his passion for ska, rock steady and reggae (music forms not endemic to his country) at an early age. His inspiration to write and sing came from listening to Mighty Mighty Boss albums, Bob Marley and other artistes of that era.

"Music is a my flesh and blood," affirms Denny. "I have a soul for it [music] and it comes alive in just how much I enjoy singing." He performed formerly with Nyiur Melambai, a musical band that he formed in East Java, up until June 2007. The five-member band made several appearances in East Java at many stage shows, jam sessions and gigs.

Today, Denny operates as a solo artiste, who still enjoys "living the life of a musician." He now resides in Jakarta. Denny is a regular guest artiste at Bibi's Reggae Club in Jakarta. He has performed with the likes of Tony Q, Steven Coconut Treez, and many other well-known local artistes. He is known for his unique vocals and ability to dance on stage.

"I'm hoping to release an album in the upcoming year," Denny noted confidently. Rockin' You Steady (2008), one of his first singles, continues to airplay locally. "While I admire so many international artistes, I have not made any appearance internationally, but hope to do so one day."
